Being right or wrong is two of the most fragile aspect of life . They are separated by a thin line which can almost get blurred with time . The only way we can see a wrong from right is with a moral compass. Just like a magnetic compass , morality is also absolute in nature. Basically designed to guide and show directions to the lost .
Morality is not the truth itself , but a tool to find the truth . But sometimes under pressure , the same moral compass can bend eventually misguiding the person , instead of finding the truth it traps you into illusions . In such situations , being right becomes the comfort of being in agreement . It collapses under these harsh conditions .
Morality can bend in various ways. The lust for power or comfort can convert the principles into lame excuses , external factors like family and affection can easily blur the difference between right and wrong .
Family changes the perspective of realizing the truth . It makes you look at a situation through a lens of affection , slowly sedating you through its deceptive soothing nature and forcing you to accept their actions as a part of truth and righteousness .
Family fills your life with love and affection and even ask you to love everyone unconditionally without expecting anything in return . But these things generally come with “Terms and Conditions” which may not arise in routine but in certain emergency conditions . Before you get into it , you may see a ray of hope , that truth will heal it but also feel that honesty may destroy what you love . During these times , your morality may start trembling with fear of collapsing .
As you get stuck deeper into the trap , pressure starts mounting on you . The righteousness inside starts to get diluted and justice get faded .Then start convincing yourself that there is nothing wrong in stepping outside your morality once in a while , this way you lose touch with the reality . Family actually does not destroy your values , it just reshapes its edges to get a hold over it .
As the sedation wears off , your vision becomes clear . You begin to feel like being used . What felt like loyalty at the time of decision making now feels like partiality . The love at that time is now exposed as blindness .
You become disoriented because the truth being pressed against your chest with great force . But on a plus point , clarity emerges and lessons are learnt . Your mind becomes awakened to the universal justice , beyond family and affection .
Going against the tide in such cases is very important for your value system because only then you know how long the justice can sustain . If you allow the family to outweigh your morality , you may feel right but only when in the tribe but from within you know your value system collapsed .
The world may look this defiance as a breaking of a sacred bond or rebellion , the family may look it as a form of betrayal . But from the within , beyond the turbulence of the storm you feel , you also sense that there is a clarity which is sharper than any comfort . In solitude , you learn that morality is not pleasing everyone but being true to something which cannot collapse under pressure .
“The world may call him traitor, the family may call him lost, yet he walks where morality bends not, and clarity never falters.” -Unknown
