To Lose the World, Yet Not Betray the Self

Sometimes keeping a promise or a vow is much important than the result. Promises are not kept looking at the future scenario of the relationship it is kept by the way you are connected to that person . The novelty of a promise always outweighs the outcome .

The vow has only heaviness attached to it rather than the glory and pride . There may be days where you may have to be a part of an obvious losing cause just because of the sacred commitment . Any step taken is not fueled by hope but by the weight of the promise which has to be kept.

Soon, the world may start judging you and your choices, even your closed ones might look down upon your actions. You are bound to get perused all day if are on what appears to be the wrong side to the entire world. To the world, it may seem like your loyalty to your friend or the king may have been misplaced. To them your flaws become tools which are used against you without any hesitation .

In the end the world only acknowledges the outcome but not the endurance . The battle within that you fought and won , of keeping up with promise you made in the beginning would never earn a memory and likely fade away into oblivion . The war is lost , the promise is honored , but the end feels hollow .

You are eventually left with a regret that you could have walked away from the wrong end of the history to preserve your legacy in the eyes of the world. The unending judgment of the world slowly becomes a mirror to you, making you question whether your value and intentions are aligned properly with a reason or corrupted.

Walking away may help you gain some karma points and become good in the eyes of world and also maybe have a legacy attached to your name. But still there is something inside you that chooses otherwise. It is because your promise does not offer an escape.

The world may look at you as some tenacious person but in reality, it is the refusal to bend and betray yourself. Even in the lost war, you remain unbroken. That self-validation you get from your affirmation gives you strength to endure the tribunal of the masses . It becomes heavier than glory yet stronger than defeat . It goes beyond getting rewarded or punished .

To keep an oath is a thankless job . No one will notice it or appreciate it .It is a burden carried in solace which is felt only by the one who bears it . That constant pressure on your shoulder does not let you forget that you did not break . During such endurance , you may not feel euphoric but feel the comfort . It keeps reminding you that even though the world moved on, but you remained true to yourself .

An unbroken promise will always outweigh the outcome , because bigger victories will always eclipse the success you had but a kept oath is constant to you ,untouched by any sort of measurements or comparisons .

Glory belongs to chance, but fidelity belongs to eternity.“- Unknown
